New Delhi: Ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his Rajasthan counterpart Vasundhara Raje will meet senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders over multi-crore Vyapam scam and Lalit Modi row on Sunday.

The meeting is being held at BJP president Amit Shah's residence and is attended by Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Ravi SHankar Prasad, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ramlal, Piyush Goel and Venkaiah Naidu.

This is the first meeting between Chouhan and the BJP top brass after the case was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation from the Madhya Pradesh Police.

The state government has come under fire from all opposition parties over alleged unnatural deaths of witnesses, accused and even journalists connected to the scam. At least 49 people have died in this case so far.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje who has faced flak over the Lalit Modi controversy is in Delhi but it is unclear if she will meet the BJP leadership.

The CBI has also registered a preliminary inquiry into the mysterious deaths of nine persons allegedly linked to Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.

Agency sources said no that action was initiated by the state police in all these deaths. They said the preliminary enquiry has been registered to examine whether these deaths were fallout of the Vyapam scam or not.

The Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh has become a major political controversy with numerous witnesses and accused dying under mysterious circumstances. The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam relates to irregularities in admission in state-run medical colleges and recruitment in government jobs.
