Ahmedabad: A three-year-old girl, who fell into a 45-feet-deep abandoned borewell in Ghodasar area in the city on Saturday, was rescued by a team of firemen in a swift operation, officials said.
"Jahnvi Hirenbhai Param, aged about three years, was today rescued from an abandoned bore-well in New Aarti society in Ghodasar area here by our Fire Brigade team in an operation that ran for just 45 minutes," Additional Chief Fire Officer Rajesh Bhatt told PTI.
The girl fell down in the borewell having breadth of 10 to 12 inches, while she was stuck on the depth of 30 feet, Bhatt said.
The fire-brigade officials dropped a hook with a rope inside the borewell and cautiously tied it to the girl's chest, taking precautions that it could not hurt her, and pulled her slowly out of it, he said.
The girl was also responding so well to instructions of the fire brigade team and that is the major reason we could save her life, Bhatt said.
The girl was later taken to city-based government-run Vadilal Sarabhai hospital, where her condition will be monitored for two or three days.
Around 15 fire brigade jawans including officials and a team of doctors were involved in the rescue operation, a control room message said.
The crowd, which gathered at the rescue spot cheered for the fire brigade team, when the girl was taken out safely.
