KOCHI: Despite earlier assurances that there  would be no delay in paying compensation to the victims of Mangalore air crash, the Air India on Friday filed an appeal before a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court challenging the Single Judge’s order directing the airline company to pay Rs 75 lakh compensation to the victims in the accident in which 158 passengers and crew members were killed on May 22, 2010.Justice P R Ramachandran passed the order on on a petition filed by Abdul Salam and Ramla, parents of B Mohammed Rafi, 24, of Kasargod who died in the crash, against Air India’s offer of Rs 35 lakh as compensation to the victim’s family.The Single Judge order said that Air India was liable to pay no-fault liability of Rs 1 lakh SDR (Special Drawing Rights which converts to Rs 75 lakh) to the victims.
