Varanasi: The Centre is plotting to overthrow the UP government and impose President’s rule by January 10, Samajawadi Party leader Amar Singh claimed on Thursday.
"The Centre may impose President's rule in UP by January 10 on the pretext of deterioration of law and order," he alleged.
Singh, whose party leads the state government, claimed his sources at the Centre had told him that President’s rule will be imposed on the “excuse” that law and order had collapsed in the state.
Former PM and BJP leader A B Vajapayee, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and BSP president Mayawati had made a pact to dislodge the Mulayam Singh government.
Singh said law and order in UP was far better than Congress-ruled states.
Asked about allegations against three state ministers in Meerut lecturer Kavita Chaudhary's murder, he said the law would take its own course.
Accusing the Centre of meting out step-motherly treatment to the state, he said the delay in taking decision on supply of coal to Roza power station and gas to Reliance power plant at Dadri is hampering the projects.
