JAIPUR: The joint special investigation team of Jajpur and Keonjhar police has recovered arms and ammunition from an abandoned well under Kalinga Nagar police limits near here. The recovery includes one country-made gun and eight live cartridges, police sources said. Police suspect that the ultras might have hidden the weapons here with some future plans. “The hidden ammunition may have been used against the surrendered Maoists in Jajpur district by the top cadres of Kalinga Nagar Division (KND). This has also been corroborated by the Maoists who surrendered recently,” said Jajpur SP Deepak Kumar. All measures are being taken for the security of the surrendered Maoists, he added. However, no arrests have been made till now. The two Maoists arrested from Pithajora forest bordering Jajpur-Keonjhar districts on Monday were responsible for several subversive activities in the area, including killing and loot, police sources said.
