The mini local train was moving from Beas Railway Station to Goindwal when it rammed into the school bus near Baba Bakala.

Amritsar: Four school children were killed and 20 were injured on Monday when a speeding mini local train rammed into their school bus at an unmanned railway crossing at Kot Mehtab Singh village near Amritsar.

Three of the injured students are in a critical condition, battling for their lives at the Civil Hospital in Amritsar.

Locals are helping the authorities in the rescue operations. The other injured have been rushed to nearby Beas hospital.

The mini local train was moving from Beas Railway Station to Goindwal when it rammed into the school bus near Baba Bakala at Kot Mehtab Singh village, about 35 kms from Amritsar.

There were 23 students in the bus at the time of the mishap. The students were studying in the Sant Baba Majha Singh Karmjot Model School at Baba Bakala town.

The students were in the age group of 12 to 14 years.
