BANGALORE: Another FIR will now be filed against former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, this time in the illegal mining scam, going by Lokayukta’s report to the Governor and the communique from the latter.Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj V Patil on Friday ordered the Lokayukta police to take suitable legal action against Yeddyurappa after he went through the Lokayukta report and findings on illegal mining.Jeevan Kumar V Gaonkar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Lokayukta told Express that Justice Patil has asked the police to take action.He said police would start investigations according to the law and he will seek the assistance of Chief of Legal Cell (CLC) and other legal experts. They will then decide which sections of Prevention of Corruption Act or Indian Penal Code attract this case.Thereafter, they will open an FIR against the former chief minister, he said. “As of now, I have not seen the Lokayukta’s order copy as I am on leave. But on Monday, I will pursue the matter,” he added.The then Lokayukta Santosh Hegde had submitted the report on illegal mining to the government and the Governor seeking appropriate action on the issue. The Governor, on August 3, sent a communique to the Lokayukta and said the Lokayukta may take further action through Lokayukta police for initiating criminal proceedings against B S Yeddyurappa based on the findings in the report on illegal mining.
