Arquette plays the mother of Ellar Coltrane's Mason in Richard Linklater's sweeping look at a boy's life, filmed over 12 years.

The other nominees Sunday were: Jessica Chastain, 'A Most Violent Year'; Keira Knightley, 'The Imitation Game'; Emma Stone, 'Birdman'; and Meryl Streep, 'Into the Woods'.

The 72nd annual Golden Globes are airing live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
