Auto driver lured to remarry

HASSAN: Pension Mohalla police have arrested one Nazeer for allegedly luring a man into a second marriage in Hassan on Monday. Two others Munna and Tanveer are absconding. The trio lured Madhu, an autorickshaw driver, and took him to Kajoor in South Canara where they tricked him into a second marriage with a Muslim girl on September 16.Sources said that Madhu, who was married for the past three years had been facing financial difficulties. The trio promised him Rs 1.50 lakh if he agreed to marry the girl. He married Soudha and received an advance of Rs 50,000.Soudha’s relatives threatened to file a dowry harassment case against Madhu if he didn’t convert to Islam. The trio took him to a doctor in Huliyar in Chitradurga district where the necessary rituals were performed.Learning of the incident, angry residents beat up Nazeer. SP Amit Singh and DySP Channabasappa formed a team to nab the miscreants.
