Mumbai: Signs of thaw were visible between estranged cousins - Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray - on an occasion to observe former Shiv Sena supremo supreme late Balasaheb Thackeray in Mumbai on Monday.
The two cousins Uddhav and Raj were spotted at Balasaheb's memorial chatting and sitting next to each other. This was in stark contrast to last year when Raj had skipped the event.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and others also paid homage to Bal Thackeray. He declared on the occasion that the state government will build a memorial for Balasaheb befitting his stature. "A memorial in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray will be built in Mumbai. This will be done in consultation with Uddhav Thackeray," he said.
But some tense moments were also witnessed as pro-Sena slogans were raised when Fadnavis arrived.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted earlier in the day, paying homage to Balasaheb.
A thaw may be visible between the cousins but it remains to be seen whether it will be a permanent one.
