Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Corporation or BBMP has shocked the people of Bengaluru once again. It has spent Rs 2 lakh to catch just 20 rats. According to an RTI revelation, the BBMP has spent Rs 10,000 per rat.

Local media reports claim that Yediyur Corporator NR Ramesh exposed it. An RTI reply reveals that the BBMP had spent Rs 2 lakh in six months to catch rats at the BBMP head quarters at Hudson Circle and IPP building in Malleswaram. In six months they have managed to catch only 20 rats.

The tender for rat catching was awarded to three companies and Rs 2 lakh was paid in several instalments under 'Mooshika Nirvahane' (Rat Control/management) plan.

Many corporators have expressed shock over alleging that most of the money has been siphoned off by human ‘rats’ in the name of real rats.

The BBMP was under the BJP rule till April this year. The BBMP is going to polls on 22nd of this month.
