BJP is not up for a tie-up: Rajnath
Rajnath Singh said BJP would prefer to sit in the Opposition if it did not get an absolute majority in the Assembly election.

New Delhi: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that his party would prefer to sit in the Opposition if it did not get an absolute majority in the up coming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Singh categorically said that the BJP would not enter into any kind of post-poll tie up with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The BJP president, who was addressing an election rally at Kisni near Mainpuri in UP, was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, "Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati were the two most corrupt chief ministers Uttar Pradesh ever had".

Talking about reservation he said, that his party was not against reservations to Muslims but it should be given to the most backwards among the community and not on the basis of religion.

He alleged that the Yadav government had patronised mafia and criminals during its regime as a result of which the law and order situation in the state had taken a turn for the worse.

The seven-phased UP Assembly election begin on April 7.
