Campaigner dies in action in Sankarankoil

VELLORE: Arakkonam Municipal Chairman K Manoharan (56) died of cardiac arrest on Sunday, while canvassing for DMK contestant Jawahar Suryakumar for the coming Sankarankoil bye-election.Manoharan, who is also Arakkonam Town Secretary for the DMK, had gone to Sankarankoil to support the party contestant.During lunch while campaigning near Kolukattakurichi, he had complained of chest pain and was rushed to the Kovilpatti GH. He died on the way to the hospital.Union Minister MK Alagiri paid his respects to the deceased party worker.His body was brought to Arakkonam later during the day. Manoharan is survived by his wife Selvi and four daughters.
