Gurgaon: In a shocking incident, a girl was kidnapped on Monday from outside her college in Gurgaon in broad daylight. According to the police she was kidnapped from near the back gate of DSD College in Gurgaon.
The incident was captured in a CCTV camera which showed that the car was without a number plate. The girl even tried to escape but was overpowered by the men inside the car.
Some passersby ran after the car to rescue her but the vehicle sped away. An eyewitness said, "The girl was kidnapped by assailants in a car. There were two people in the white coloured car."
The police said that they are investigating in the issue. There are no leads so far. "We are investigating the matter. We will also examine the CCTV footage," said Gurgaon ACP Anil Kumar.
The incident happened at 9:40 AM and police have taken information from witnesses who saw the car speeding away. Police officials say so far no ransom call has been made and they have not even received any formal complaint.
While Gurgaon Police Commissioner MS Virk claimed that police do not know the identity of the girl and the kidnappers, he quickly added that the case would be solved soon. "I am confident we will be able to solve the incident within a few hours. The ACP is personally supervising the case," said Virk.
Jawahar Yadav, the OSD to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar, offered a meek reply when questioned about the poor law and order in Gurgaon. He said the government had already ordered an investigation into the incident. "The government is trying to ensure that such incidents do not occur again. We are hopeful that the case will be solved soon," said Yadav.
A manhunt has been launched and police are trying to access more CCTV footage from the entire stretch of the road from where the kidnappers fled.
