Mumbai: Abu Salem—the extradited gangster in his interrogation had named two absconding persons allegedly involved in the 1993 Mumbai blast case.

Now, CBI has moved the TADA court pleading for issue of Non Bailable Warrant (NBW) against the two accused—Aziz Bakalia and Abdul Quyum who according to the CBI are absconding and out side the country.

CBI, the prosecuting agency, sought warrants for Aziz Bakalia and Abdul Quyum, saying that the accused had fled the country and were abroad and hence NBWs were required to get red corner notices issued for them by Interpol, the international police agency, to catch them.

Since no body represented the defence in the court, Judge Pramod Kode had to adjourne the matter till Wednesday.

Abu Salem, who is yet to face trial in the serial bomb blasts case, was extradited from Portugal in November last year. Besides allegedly naming Bakalia and Quyum, the gangster had also named Riaz Siddique who is, however, in custody now.

Having secured convictions of 100 out of the 123 accused who faced trial in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, Central Bureau of Investigation moved the TADA court, pleading for issue of NBW against the absconding accused in the 1993 blast case allegedly named by extradited gangster Abu Salem during interrogation.
