Hyderabad: The Centre is preparing a database of people who indulged in serious crimes, including terrorism, sexual abuse and cyber crime, Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said on Saturday.
"A legislation in this regard has recently been passed in Parliament. Declaring (persons) as individual terrorists, we are creating a database on them, along with the United Nations," he said.
"We are creating data of those who indulged in sexual abuse. Those who indulge in sexual abuse will not get jobs. No bank will give loan to those who commit such crimes. We are preparing the database, using technology, which would be available to all,"
"We are also preparing data base of persons who indulge in cyber crime," he said.
Reddy was speaking at a seminar on 'Cyber Security and Image Processing organised by the Institution of Engineers (India) Telangana state chapter.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has set up Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre to tackle internet-related crimes such as cyber threats, child pornography and online threats, he said.
This centre would be the nodal point in the fight against cyber crime prevent misuse of cyber space for furthering the cause of terrorist groups, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy favoured introducing a smart card for citizens which would help, against the backdrop of growing technology-related threats and threats from infiltrators and other challenges.
There is a need for smart cards in the country, citizens smart cards. There is a citizen smart card in Bangladesh also. There is no such (card) in our country. When Aadhar card was introduced, many were troubled, he said.
Such smart cards are needed against the backdrop of growing technology, infiltrators coming (into the country) and terrorists who came earlier, he said. Unfortunately, we are not able to make use of Aadhar card, he said.
Asserting that the government is committed to securing international borders, he said pilot projects of smart fencing along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu have been started.
Speaking on the sidelines, he said the BJP has requested the Telangana government to officially celebrate September 17 when the erstwhile Hyderabad state was merged with the Indian Union in 1948.
The liberation day is celebrated by BJP every year.
