HYDERABAD: An 8-year-old boy who was kidnapped at Champapet on Sunday was freed by his abductors on Monday after police gave them a chase. The abductors, who had demanded `5 lakh as ransom, gave Rs 200 to the boy and asked him to hire an auto to reach home.S Sujith Reddy, a Class-III student and resident of Champapet, is the son of Rajasekhar Reddy who runs a petrol filling station at Karmanghat. On Sunday evening, when he was playing near his house, two motorcyclists came and offered him a ride. An unsuspecting Sujith got on to the bike and as the three reached the main road another biker was waiting there. They all drove off with the kid.Even as Sujith's family launched a search for him, they got a call from the abductors around 8 pm demanding Rs 5 lakh as ransom. The family approached the Saroornagar police who formed special teams to nab the abductors.The abductors initially asked the family to leave the money near an electric pole at Chintalkunta but did not turn up. Later, they asked them to wait near Orange Hospital at midnight but did not turn up again. On Monday morning, the abductors asked them to come near Panama Godowns near Vanasthalipuram and did not turn up yet again. They took the boy to various places including LB Nagar and Hastinapuram. Police narrowly missed the abductors at Hastinapuram. Around 10 am, the abductors called up Reddy and told him that Sujith would be released. An hour later, they called up again to say that the boy was left near Manda Mallamma Garden at Meerpet and that he would be reaching home by an auto.
