Citaristi regales audience

CUTTACK: Ileana Citaristi held the audience spellbound with her solo recital of ‘Creative Chau’ on the third day of Spic Macay national convention here on Wednesday. The annual event is being hosted for the first time in the State by  Ravenshaw University.  The day also saw Ottanthullal performance by Kalamandalam Mohanakrishna and Group and danseuse Methil Devika. Versatile Devika charmed the audience with a Mohiniyattam performance.  ‘Bhava’ and ‘hasthamudras’ were highlights of her performance.The day began with talks on puppetry by Dadi Pudumjee, founder of Ishara Puppet Theatre and one of India’s leading puppeteers. Informing the delegates about the basics of puppetry, Pudumjee said efforts should be taken to keep alive the dying art form. Later in the evening, veteran dancer and choreographer C V Chandrasekhar wowed the audience with his spirited performance. The day ended with rendition of Carnatic vocals by another veteran T V Sankaranarayanan.
