PHULBANI: Special attention is being given to developmental schemes which are being implemented on priority basis in the tribal-dominated Kandhamal district, said Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. He started his election campaigning from Chakapada in the district and addressed two other meetings at Tikabali and Raikia before leaving for Boudh on Tuesday.Addressing huge gatherings, Naveen said several development schemes like the rice at Rs 2-a-kg and Madhubabu Pension Scheme have been implemented in the district for the benefit of people after the 2007 riots. To strengthen the BJD base here, he appealed to the voters to elect BJD-supported ZP candidates. The party’s hopes of winning from here doubled as no top leader from other parties reached here to campaign. However, criticism for Naveen did not stop. BJP leader Ashok Sahu said now when the BJD Government has failed miserably to rule the State and is unable to control the distressed law and order situation in the State, the CM is appealing for votes. Congress leaders too aired similar sentiments.
