Lucknow: No fresh arrests have been made in connection with the murder of UP Chief Medical Officer (CMO) BP Singh, police said on Friday even as they were waiting for the special team's report on financial irregularities.
"The inquiry into the case is going on and no fresh arrests have been made today. We are awaiting report of the special team constituted to look into financial irregularities in family welfare and health departments", Special DG Law and Order Brijlal told reporters.
The report of the team would be submitted soon, after which action could be initiated against those found guilty, he said.
About the arrest of Lucknow CMO AK Shukla against whom an FIR was lodged on Thursday, Brijlal said that it would be done after enough proof is collected against him.
The state government on Thursday had constituted a special team for investigation into CMO Singh's murder.
Deputy CMO Yogendra Singh Sachan, district administrative officer Chandrajeet Yadav, senior clerk PC Verma and Sanjay Anand have been arrested so far in the
case.
