Collector, SP meet mountaineer in Puri

PURI: District Collector Fakir Charan Satpathy along with SP Sanjay Kumar and the sports officer met mountaineer Kalpana Dash on Monday and asked her to call off her agitation.Kalpana has been begging for alms at the main gate of Jagannath Temple protesting lack of Government’s  assistance. The District Collector said that Kalpana Dash was allotted a plot of land in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, and was provided ` 5 lakh. Though he said that Kalpana was promised a private job, he was not aware of its present status. Meanwhile, the Young Lawyers’ Association led by its convenor Kali Prasad Nayak, PCC president Priyadarshan Pattnaik, former Union minister for Steel Brajakishore Tripathy, Zilla Parishad president Shankarshan Parida and former Puri municipal chairman GH Naik met Kalpana and condemned the State Government for utter neglect of sportspersons.Kalpana, who is observing ‘mouna brata’ (vow of silence), did not react to the District Magistrate’s request for calling off the agitation. There has been a growing public demand to provide her with a government job.
