BANGALORE: “After corporator Nataraj is murdered, I feel scared to come to the city. But, I am a public representative and have to work for the people. I think its very dangerous to move around without police security, “ said Shakeel Ahmed, BBMP corporator of Bharathinagar ward.He is the only person among the BBMP corporators who is still a history sheeter. Presently he is in Goa and he expressed anxiety to come back to the city.Speaking to Express, Shakeel said that the scenario had completely changed in the city in the recent years. “I was booked under a few cases in the past and am acquitted in all. For the last ten years I am leading a normal life and would like to continue the same in future. Diwan Ali, who was a history sheeter, was assassinated. Now I am the only corporator with history sheet. I have to address the problems of the people, and for this, I work day and night. I even have to attend public functions. How can I move around without fear when corporators are being killed in the streets in daylight,” he questioned.He said that he would meet the BBMP Mayor and Commissioner seeking security.Not only Shakeel, but many corporators have demanded adequate police security post the murder of the corporator. BBMP Mayor Sharadamma said, “A meeting will be convened next week to discuss about security of corporators. We will gather the opinion of all corporators and come to a conclusion in this matter.”Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), T Suneel Kumar, said, “We decide what kind of security should be given based on the inputs by the intelligence wing.”Meanwhile, KPCC urged the State Government to hand over the investigation of the murder of the party’s BBMP Corporator Nataraj to Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Vehicle owner's role suspected in Nataraj's murderThe city police who are probing the murder case of BBMP Corporator S Nataraj, have suspected the role of the vehicle’s owner behind the incident.Police sources said that Vijaykumar, owner of the car, was absconding after the incident.“Investigations have revealed that Vijaykumar and Nataraj were acquaintances. He was a cab driver and Nataraj called him when he wanted to travel long distances. In the process, Vijaykumar knew the whereabouts of the slain corporator,” sources said.It has also been revealed that just a few days before the murder, Vijaykumar had sold his car for Rs 25,000. “There is no information on to whom the car has been sold. It is learnt that the dealing took place with the help of a mechanic.However, we are yet to trace details of the mechanic,” sources informed.In connection with the mobile phone found in the car used by the assailants, police have questioned Umesh, in whose identity the SIM card was taken.“Investigations revealed that Umesh is not connected with the murder in anyway. The retailer has issued the SIM to the assailants using Umesh’s ID card, without bringing it to his notice,” sources added.
