Fourteen-year-old Yogesh Choudhary went missing on July 6.

New Delhi: An army sepoy has been charged with the alleged abduction of a 15-year-old boy who went missing near the Line of Control near Rajouri last week.

After getting a complaint from Daleep Kumar that his son Yogesh Choudhary was abducted by an Army jawan in Sher Makri forward area in Noushera belt of Rajouri, police booked Ram Lal of 25 Rajput Regiment for abduction, a senior police official said.

A case of abduction has been registered at Police Station Bhawani, he said. Police say Ram Lal was on leave at the time of the boy's disappearance since July 6.

During preliminary investigation, Lal expressed ignorance about the boy, police said, adding they were likely to arrest him.

The villagers also held a protest over the disappearance and demanded handing over of the boy to the family immediately.

"We have started our own investigations also in the case, but the boy went missing a day later after the jawan went on leave," Lt Colonel Biplab Nath told CNN-IBN.
