THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said that the CPM could not come out clean in the T P Chandrasekharan murder. In his post-Cabinet news briefing, Chandy said that the CPM could not convince even its own leaders and the other LDF constituents of its innocence in the issue. He said that the people would understand the fact in spite of all the efforts made by the CPM leadership to wash off its hand . He said that the CBI inquiry had brought to light the involvement of the CPM in the murder of Fazal of Thalassery and Abdul Jabbar of Kasargod.  CPM cannot deny its role in the murder of Shukoor of Thaliparamba, Chandy said.  The Chief Minister said it was only recently, during the observance of a martyrs’ day, that the CPM leaders declared that the days of Chandrasekharan were numbered. CM Flays ‘Silence’ of Cultural LeadersThe Chief Minister came down heavily on what he called the silence of  cultural leaders on the TP murder issue.  “Those who have been reacting to even minor issues have not uttered a word condemning the murder so far,’’ he said.  When pointed out that some writers had said that they preferred to remain silent on the issue for fear of retaliatory attack, he said no one could be persuaded to react by offering protection. He said the govt had received all support from the officials and all sections of society during the first year of its tenure.  “’Even the opposition had cooperated with us. Being the Opposition, they may have aired some protest against certain govt decisions. But we cannot find fault with them for this,’’ he said.
