CPM Kannur meet from Thursday

KANNUR: The Kannur district conference of the CPM will be held at the I V Das Nagar (Ayodhya auditorium), Payyanur, from January 12 to 15.Briefing mediapersons about the arrangements being made  for the conference, P Jayarajan, district secretary of the party, said that the delegates’ session of the  conference scheduled to be held at 10 am on January 13  will be inaugurated by state secretary of the party, Pinarayi Vijayan.As many as 375 delegates representing the 43,433 members of the party, and 42 district committee members will participate in the delegates’ session. The delegates meet will review the political agitations and the organisational activities held in the last four years by the party.The party had suffered a setback in the last Lok Sabha poll, but the party’s performance in the Assembly and local body polls was impressive, he said. Of the 81 grama panchayats in the district, here, 53 are being ruled by the CPM now. The district panchayat is under the control of the CPM, and of the 11 block panchayats, 10 are being ruled by the party, Jayarajan said.
