CWG 2014: Indian women paddlers lose, face Australia for team bronze
India, who won the silver four years ago at home, will take on Australia in the bronze medal playoff on Sunday.

Glasgow: The Indian women's table tennis team failed to qualify for the summit clash in the Commonwealth Games as they lost their semi-final match 1-3 to defending champions Singapore at the Scotstoun Sports Campus on Saturday.

In the first singles, Tianwei Feng defeated Shamini Kumaresan 3-0 (11-1, 13-11, 11-5) but Manika Batra drubbed Mengyu Yu 3-2 (11-7, 5-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7) to level the tie at 1-all.

However, Ye Lin and Mengyu won the doubles clash defeating Madhurika Patkar and Shamini 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 11-5) to take a 2-1 lead, which they extended in the next match when Ye beat Manika 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5) to win the tie 3-1.

India, who won the silver four years ago at home, will take on Australia in the bronze medal playoff on Sunday.

Earlier, India had beaten New Zealand 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Indian men's team will take on Scotland in the quarterfinal later in the day.
