CWG 2014: India's Saurav Ghosal, Anaka Alankamony win in squash
Ghosal and Alankamony won their respective matches to proceed to the next rounds at the 20th Commonwealth Games at the Scotstoun Campus Squash.

Glasgow: Indian squash players Saurav Ghosal and Anaka Alankamony won their respective matches to proceed to the next rounds at the 20th Commonwealth Games at the Scotstoun Campus Squash on Friday.

Ghosal won his men's singles Round of 16 to advance to the quarter-finals while Anaka came out on top in the women's plate Round of 32.

Ghosal was well on his way to the last eight, having bagged the first two games 11-2, 11-5 against against Steve Finitsis but the Australian came back strongly to win the next two games 11-4, 11-6 and level the match at 2-all.

The Indian had to come out with all guns blazing to take the decider 11-8 and win the match 3-2.

Earlier, Anaka had an easy outing against Sri Lankan Naduni Gunawardane as she won 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-5).

However, Joshana Chinappa had to bite the dust as she lost her women's singles Round of 16 match 1-3 to New Zealand's Joelle King.

Joelle won the first two games 11-3, 11-8 but the Indian made sure the match went to the fourth game by taking the third 11-8. In the fourth game, the New Zealander needed only a few minutes to wrap it up 11-5.

Star Indian Dipika Pallikal will take on Delia Arnold of Malaysia in the women's singles Round of 16 later in the day.
