New Delhi: Information & Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi's health continues to be under medical treatment.
The charge of his ministry has been handed over to the Minister of State for External Affairs, Anand Sharma.
President Pratibha Patil allocated additional charge of the ministry to Sharma on the the Prime Minister’s advice on Saturday.
The 62-year old minister was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following complete left ventricular failure on Monday last.
Although he is stable, doctors say he remains semiconscious. PTI reports that he will be examined by an American neurologist.
"His condition is stable and his neurological system is being closely monitored," D K Sharma, Medical Suprintendent of AIIMS, said.
The American neurologist Den Henley neurologist from Johns Hopkins University has been called in to examine Dasmunsi.
PTI also reports that the American neurologist has been called in at the requests of the ailing minister’s family.
Henley had an informal discussion with the AIIMS doctors about Dasmunsi's condition on Saturday and will be conducting necessary tests on Sunday to ascertain whether further treatment can be carried out in New Delhi’s AIIMS or some place else.
