BANGALORE: A 21-year-old woman from Delhi who had eloped with her boyfriend and living in the city died in a road accident on Sunday.She was killed after a BMTC bus rammed into the autorickshaw in which she was travelling with her boyfriend.Her boyfriend has absconded after the incident, which was reported near Yeshwantpur police station, fearing he would be arrested on charges of kidnapping her. The deceased has been identified as Sonam and her absconding boyfriend as Rasheed.According to police, Rasheed was a tenant in a building owned by Sonam’s parents. They fell in love and had eloped in the month of March. The couple had come to the city and started living in a house in Yeshwantpur.Sonam’s parents are said to have filed a kidnap case in a police station at Delhi.On Sunday, they had taken an auto to Mantri Mall in Malleswaram. But the auto was rammed by BMTC bus (Route No 90) and Sonam sustained fatal injuries in the mishap. Rasheed took her to a hospital and she succumbed to injuries after 20 minutes.Fearing that he would be arrested on kidnap charges, Rasheed escaped from the hospital leaving his girlfriend’s body, police explained.While giving her details in the hospital, he had given her Delhi address and the police informed her parents about her death. Sonam’s younger brother Govind Kumar arrived in the city on Monday and the police have sent the body to M S Ramaiah Hospital for postmartem.Meanwhile, the police have arrested the BMTC bus driver in connection with the accident.
