BANGALORE: The People for a Cleaner India (PeFCI) on Thursday requested the BBMP to name a circle at HSR Layout officially as Anna Hazare Circle. The forum is making this appeal to the civic body after a nameboard carrying Anna’s name, put up by the residents in the area, had disappeared mysteriously. “Six hundred people took part in a torchlight walk from this circle when Anna fasted for the first time. We fasted along with him, this circle is important to us and we want it named Anna Hazare circle,” said GS Krishna Murthy, Coordinator of PeFCI while addressing the media persons on Thursday. He added that the residents would be open to a road being named after the iconic anti-corruption crusader. The circle is located at the junction of 17th Cross and 19th Main. PeFCI had earlier put up a board declaring Anna’s name without formally approaching the BBMP for permission. Some residents believed that the unilateral move of the forum might have led to bringing down the board. “Some vested interests have gotten the board uprooted before, but this time we will go through official channels,” said Premkumar, PeFCI.
