A police constable allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a service rifle at Rasoolpur police station in Bihar's Bhagalpur district, police said.
The constable, identified as Gautam Prasad (28) fatally shot himself with his service rifle in his barrack on Sunday night apparently in a state of depression, SSP Rajesh Kumar said.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Law and Order, Harikishore Rai and other officials rushed to the police station and sent the body for post-mortem at Bhagalpur Medical College, he said.
Prasad, a native of Gopalganj district, was suffering from depression ever since his family had got him married to a girl not of his choice in February this year, the SSP added.
