BANGALORE: Heavy rains and slushy roads did not deter devotees from participating in St Mary’s feast celebrations in the city on Thursday.Thousands of devotees gathered at the St Mary’s Basilica to witness the celebrations which are a part of the 10-day programme at the church.“Thankfully we had no problems in spite of the rains,” said inspector Venkatesha, Shivajinagar police station.“There were 650 policemen on duty excluding officers,” he added.“We’ve been coming here regularly for 40 years now, nothing can deter us, not rain, not traffic,” said Darwin, a devotee from Nagawara junction.The chariot ride was accompanied by shouts of Hallelujah and Ave Maria and the gathering was addressed in Kannada, Tamil and other languages.
