Disproportionate assets worth Rs 81 lakh seized

CUTTACK: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday conducted raids on Junior MVI, Cuttack, Sanjeev Kumar Padhi and detected property and assets to the tune of Rs 80,92,023.Acting on the allegations of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets by Padhi, the officials conducted searches at his residential house Green Villa at Thoria Sahi here, paternal house at Palur Bungalow Street, Berhampur, apartment at Manmohan Mansion, Berhampur, office at Cuttack and father-in-law’s house at Berhampur.He was found to own a car and two two- wheelers. Apart from substantial amount of gold ornaments and deposits in banks and post offices, he had deposited Rs1 lakh towards purchase of a duplex house at Ambapua, Berhampur, valued at Rs 21,75,117. The duplex house at Thoria Sahi, one building at Palur Bungalow Street, Berhampur, and the flat at Manmohan Mansion, Berhampur, are valued at Rs 44,25,250. One locker at Rushikulya Gramya Bank at Berhampur is yet to be opened, Vigilance officials said.
