KOCHI: The Distributors Association of Kerala on Wednesday imposed a ban on directors Kamal and Jayaraj. The ban was imposed citing that the two directors had released two of their movies ignoring the opposition of the Kerala Distributors Association. Kamal and Jayaraj have released their movies ‘Swapna Sanchari’ and ‘Nayika’ in 70 theatres under the Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation. The Kerala Distributors Association has made it clear that the movies of both the directors would not be considered for distribution in the future. Responding to this, Kamal said that he is rejecting the ban while Jayaraj replied that the Film Employees of Federation Kerala (FEFKA) will respond to the ban issue. The Exhibitors Association had banned Malayalam releases from November 1 in protest against the state government’s decision against collecting incr-eased service charges in theatres. Owing to this, the Kerala Distributors Association had earlier decided not to give any films to the Exhibitors Association. But as the state government repealed its decision, the federation decided to go ahead with the release of Malayalam movies on November 20 to which the distributors responded negatively. The Federation has also made its stand clear that it would not give films to such theatres who hold strikes at their convenience. The Distributors Association had also declared that it would give films only after November 27. Both the directors - Kamal and Jayaraj released their films by rejecting this decision.
