Drunk cop misbehaves in public, suspended

COIMBATORE: A senior Sub Inspector of Police was suspended here on Monday after he reportedly misbehaved with the public in an inebriated state.The SSI was suspended by Commissioner of Police Amaresh Pujari following a tip off by a local resident.Senior sub inspector of police Gandhi, attached to the Kuniamuthur (L&O) station, was on duty at Karumbukkadai checkpost at Kuniamuthur on Sunday night when he started misbehaving with the public, the Commissioner said. “I received a tip off from a local and directed the ACP to check and bring the SSI to the B4 station. I personally conducted an enquiry at 1 pm,” Pujari said. After subjecting the SSI to a medical test at the CMCH, the CoP ordered his suspension from Monday.DCP (headquaters) C  Vivekanandan will probe the matter and further disciplinary action will be taken based on his report.
