New Delhi: Two employees of the Kashmir government were injured when a drunk CRPF jawan opened fire on them in Jammu early on Wednesday morning.
Sepoy Dukosowa was on guard duty at the high-security Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu that houses over 300 foreign and local terrorists, official sources said.
Dukosowa, who was heavily drunk, entered into one of the barracks of the jail and opened fire after arguments with his seniors.
Later he ran away along with the rifle and four magazines, the sources said adding the drunk jawan reached Purkhoo area in Jammu city and entered into the premises of reservoir-cum-overhead water tank and demanded Rs 500 from the two employees on duty at gunpoint.
The employees gave him Rs 50 and told him they do not have any more money following which in a fit of rage, he opened fire on them injuring both of them.
The injured Sukhdev Singh and Shyam Lal, employees of the Public Health Engineering department, were hospitalised as the CRPF cop escaped from the spot, the sources said.
The police and CRPF have launched a manhunt to track down the jawan.
