The festival of Navaratri is almost here and the preparations for the period have started across the country. Especially in the state of West Bengal, where the arrival of Goddess Durga is done with great enthusiasm and excitement.
As per Local18, the locals of the Beltala area, Alipurduar, are engaged in special arrangements for the occasion of Durga Puja. A big event is being organised here for the Puja at the Swamiji Club, which is being conducted under a budget of Rs 12 lakh. Furthermore, they also aim to have a special celebration for its 75th anniversary.
A potter from Aliduarpur is creating the Goddess Durga idol, which is expected to stand at a height of 35 feet with a width of 34 feet, added Local18. According to the Durga Puja organisers, it is going to be the biggest idol in all of North Bengal. The work on the idol was started around one and a half months ago.
A member of the organising club, Subhojit Dhar, shared more details of the event in a conversation with Local18. He stated, “This time we will gift a big puja to the people of the district as well as the people of North Bengal.” Speaking further, he added, “Besides, there will be a surprise in the illumination. It will be ensured that visitors do not face any problems in watching this puja.” a video shared by Local18 captures all the preparations for the Durga Puja as well as the making of the idol. Durga Puja is celebrated for ten days, in which the devotees engage in the worship of Goddess Durga. Major celebrations take place in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tripura, Odisha and Assam.
