DVAC knocks on former DMK Minister Velus doors

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption raided the residences and colleges of DMK MLA E V Velu and his relatives in Tiruvannamalai district and the city on Thursday.The DVAC said that a probe was conducted on information that Velu, former minister for food, civil supplies, consumer and price had accumulated in his name and that of his family, assets disproportionate to known sources of income to the tune of `26.30 lakh while he was minister. Based on the probe, a case was filed against Velu. The DVAC also raided  the offices of an engineering college and international school in the district, apart from Velu’s house in Alwarpet.
