Entrance for lateral entry students on June 26

PUDUCHERRY: The task of admitting eligible candidates from Puducherry (through lateral entry) will now rest upon the shoulders of the Centralised Admission Commission for Lateral Entry (CENTAC-LE), a body constituted by the UT government. All such candidates will be expected to undergo the Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET). According to a release, the Test would be conducted at the Pondicherry Engineering College (PEC) campus on June 26 (Saturday) between 10 am and 12.30 pm. Application forms for the same would be available at the Pondicherry Engineering College Co-operative Credit Society, Puducherry, and Perunthalaiver Kamarajar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Karaikal. The last date for submitting the forms duly filled in is June 15. The counselling fee has been  reduced to Rs 600 (Rs 300 for SC/ST) from Rs 750.A total of 552 seats will be filled by CENTAC-LE for 10 different branches of the BTech degree programme. Of these, 126 seats would be available in the two engineering institutions run by the government of Puducherry and 426 seats in the 11 self-financing engineering institutions. The minimum qualification needed is pass with a minimum of 50 per cent marks (45 per cent in case of reserved category) in the appropriate branch of diploma (in engineering) or BSc degree (with Mathematics as a subject in Standard XII). However, preference would first be given to diploma candidates and only after their needs are met would candidates from BSc stream be considered.As per the release, for this year’s admission CENTAC-LE followed the revised norms of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which have been duly approved by Pondicherry University.
