KOCHI: Justice V R Krishna Iyer will inaugurate the e-toilet project at the Government Higher Secondary School here on Friday at 11 am. The project aims at creating an environment-friendly and student-friendly atmosphere in schools.The e-toilet will automatically flush itself after use. The flush system has been automatically set according to the time of use to save water. The floors too have an automatic system to clean itself after the the toilet is used by 10 persons. The ability to lock the toilet through an SMS system is an added advantage. Girls-friendly incinerator is another feature of the design. “The e-toilet scheme for schools is being implemented for the first time in India.” P Rajeev MP said.The project worth Rs 1 crore is supported by the Cochin Refinery and the toilets are designed by Technopark-based Rain Concert Technologies. M P Rajiv will address the gathering. Mayor Tony Chemmani, Hibi Eaden, MLA, Collector Sheik Pareeth, Deputy Mayor Badhra Satheesh, Town Hall opposition leader K J Jacob, Cochin Refinery Executive Director Nandakumar, Sports Council President Zakheer Hussain and Refinery H R General Manager M V Govinda Rajan will also be present.E-toilets are planned to be set up at 25 higher secondary schools, of which eight are government schools and the rest are aided.
