TIRUPUR: An attempt to murder case was registered against a former MLA’s son and six others here on Friday, after a loan collection agent alleged that they tried to run him over with a car when he went to the MLA’s house to seize the vehicle as per court order.According to police, ex-Pongalur MLA A S Mani (DMK) purchased a car worth Rs 52 lakh last year. He acquired a loan from a New Delhi-based loan collection agency for this purpose after depositing an advance of `12 lakh. He agreed to the terms, which stipulated that he pay `1 lakh per month as due towards the remaining Rs 48 lakh, with interest.However, after doing so for six months, he deferred on the payment.Meanwhile, the private loan collecting agency filed a suit before a court in New Delhi and obtained an order to seize the MLA’s car.S Arul Selvam (29), a staff of the loan collecting agency, in a complaint, stated that he was attacked by Mani and six others when he went to Mani’s home at Nachipalayam to seize the car.
