Family approves magazine tribute to Goody
The OK! magazine said the issue was "a celebration of Jade's amazing life."

London: After some national newspapers have come out against the reality TV star Jade Goody's tribute issue by a magazine while she is still alive, her family has expressed its support for the edition.

Goody's publicist Max Clifford confirmed that her family approved supported the OK magazine for carrying phrases "In Loving Memory" and "Jade Goody 1981-2009" on its cover reported the BBC news online.

Journalists and some members of the public have criticised the magazine for pre-empting Goody's death saying they think it is in bad taste.

The OK! magazine said the issue was "a celebration of Jade's amazing life."

No complaints had been received directly from the public, the publication said.

Goody's family was "extremely grateful" for the support they had received from the magazine "during this distressing period," it said in a statement.

Damian Thompson, who writes for the Telegraph newspaper said on the publication's website, that when he saw the front cover, with its black border and the dates 1981-2009, he "thought the poor girl was dead". He added that OK! had "very tastefully jumped the gun" and argued it was a ploy to boost circulation figures.
