Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport's (BEST) has decided to go ahead with the revision of all non-AC and AC buses from Sunday. While daily bus ticket in Mumbai will cost Rs 7 instead of Rs 6, the minimum AC bus fare will escalate from Rs 20 to Rs 25 from February 1.
The Sunday's fare hike was supposed to come into effect last year itself, but got delayed.
Reportedly, the Fort Ferry 1 and 2 from Mumbai CST will stop charging a fixed Rs 6 per ticket. It will now cost the commuter as per the distance travelled, with a minimum of Rs 7 and a maximum of Rs 10 per ticket.
The BEST has also increased the monthly bus pass by minimum of Rs 40. The next fare revision is likely to take place in April if the BMC does not provide BEST with any subsidy.
The fare revision will majorly affect the travel budget of lakhs of daily commuters.
