Father of a man, who went missing six days ago, on Monday attempted self-immolation, after driven to despair allegedly over laxity of police in the case.
Police had on Sunday night lodged a missing case about one Susheel Shankar Dubey (27) of Misirpur village and had taken an one accused in custody in connection with it.
Rajnarain Dubey, the father of the victim, reached the police station on Monday morning alongwith 100 villagers, and alleging laxity on the part of the police, demanded removal of the police station in-charge.
But, even as the Additional Superintendent of Police, Munnalal was trying to pacify them, Rajnarain sprinkled kerosene and tried to set himself ablaze, police said.
The incident took place Sangrampur police station area.
Policemen present on the spot, however saved him and took him into custody, police said, adding senior officers pacified the villagers and assured them of prompt action.
