Oxygen pipe has been put into the borewell to help the girl breath.

Jaipur: In yet another incident showing how unsafe open borewells are for children, a four-year-old girl on Saturday fell into a 50-feet deep open borewell at Moradi village in Rajasthan's Dausa district.

The girl, identified as Anju, is alive and rescue work has begun with two JCB machines and tractor trolleys pressed into service to bring her out, SHO Bandikui Ramveer Singh said.

An oxygen pipe has also been put into the eight inch wide borewell to help the girl breathe, he said.

The incident occured at around 1730 hrs IST while she was playing there.

Senior police and administration officials have reached the spot.

Dausa is 57 kms from Jaipur while the scene of the incident is about 40 kms from the district headquarters.

In October last year a two-year-old boy named Sonu died after falling into a borewell in Agra.

Five-year-old Prince who fell into a 60-feet borewell in Hardaheri village near Kurukshetra in Haryana in July 2006, grabbed national attention by emerging alive out of the narrow borewell after struggling for 48 hours.
