BANGALORE: The 32nd Additional City Civil and Sessions and Special Judge for CBI cases M S Biradar, sentenced M R Muralidharan, former Senior Administrative Officer of National Institute of Rock Mechanics in Kolar for two years of simple imprisonment and and have a imposed a penalty of Rs 60,000, in connection with misappropriation of funds.Muralidharan, when he was the Senior Administrative Officer of the institute during December 1994 and February 1997, had misused funds to the tune of Rs 13 lakh by creating false vouchers and bills. Thereafter, he had prepared cheques to make payments to the parties stated in the vouchers and misappropriated funds by obtaining demand drafts in the name of his relatives and deposited the amount into his own account. The sleuths of the anti-corruption branch of the CBI had investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against the accused in the court.Five years’ RI for  BBMP employeeIn another case, the 16th Fast Track Court convicted Obalesh, a 30-year-old BBMP employee, for five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 2,000 for kidnapping a minor girl and forcing her to marry him. Obalesh, a resident of Muniswamappa Block in R T Nagar, had kidnapped the girl in November 2010 and kept her at his friend’s residence in HSR Layout. The police had rescued her after five days.  R T Nagar police had investigated the case and filed chargesheet against the accused.
