A Vistara flight operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt was diverted to Erzurum Airport in Turkey due to a bomb threat onboard on Friday.
The flight UK27 made a precautionary landing at Erzurum Airport at 7:05 pm (IST). The passengers and cabin crew onboard were safely evacuated.
According to sources, one of the cabin crew members found a written bomb threat in one of the toilets and alerted about the security threat onboard.
According to Vistara spokesperson, the authorities were immediately alerted and security agencies took a complete mandatory check of the aircraft.
“Vistara flight UK 27 operating from Mumbai to Frankfurt on 06 September 2024 has been diverted to Turkey due to a security concern that was noted by our crew while onboard. The aircraft has safely landed at the Erzurum Airport. As per protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately alerted and we are fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority,” he said.
The airline in an X post said, “Flight UK27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA) has been diverted to Turkey (Erzurum airport) due to security reasons and has landed safely at 1905 hours. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

Earlier in July, an Air India flight operating from New Delhi to San Francisco was diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport (UNKL) in Russia due to a technical reason. The flight made a precautionary landing after the cockpit crew detected a potential issue in the cargo hold area. All 225 passengers and the 19 members of the flight crew disembarked the aircraft and were taken to the terminal building for further processing.
In June 2024, Akasa Air’s Mumbai-bound flight from Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad after it received a security alert. The captain of the flight followed all required emergency procedures and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft had 186 passengers, 1 infant and six crew members onboard.
