New Delhi: CNN-IBN gets you Bloggywood, your weekly dose of celeb talk from the web. This week Bollywood remembers the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
"I went to his concert in 1996, wearing a hood. I couldn't meet him personally but yes, I was a big fan," Akshay Kumar said.
He was followed by actresses Preity Zinta and Mallika Sherawat.
Preity bid farewell on Twitter ("Goodbye Michael," she wrote), and let her fans in on her favorite Jackson tracks - Thriller and Dangerous. Mallika, too, insisted his music would never die. "The King is dead, long live pop," she blogged.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur also remembered Michael Jackson's angelic spirit. He compared Jackson - who he had met thrice - to late Hollywood star Heath Ledger and late musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, saying they were "spirits not wanting to be limited by the body. All died young. Like angels".
India's Oscar winner, A R Rahman also loved Michael Jackson, "regardless of all the controversy surrounding him". Rahman paid a special tribute to MJ on his personal website. He wrote: "MJ, for most of our generation was an icon who made uncompromising music."
Amitabh Bachchan, whose blog in memory of MJ recalled how he fought the odds to watch MJ perform live at a concert in Jacksonville Florida back in the '80s wrote about how he didn't have a hotel reservation or a ticket but still managed to attend the concert, an experience he described as "hallucinogenic madness".
Big B has also promised fans that he will be uploading an old birthday party recording of an eight-year-old Abhishek Bachchan dressed like Michael Jackson and dancing to Thriller.
