From the icy heights of Ladakh to the serene landscapes of Sikkim and heavy seas, Indian soldiers on Friday spearheaded the nationwide celebrations of the International Day of Yoga, displaying enthusiasm as they participated in yoga sessions with great zeal.

Indian Army troops and ITBP personnel braved icy heights in Eastern Ladakh and North Sikkim to perform yoga on the northern frontier, celebrating International Yoga Day. School children also joined in the yoga session, practicing alongside Pangong lake in Ladakh. Here are some of the early morning visuals of the Yoga Day celebration from across the country:

The theme “Yoga for Self and Society” emphasises yoga’s dual benefits in fostering individual and communal well-being. This year’s event aims to enhance grassroots participation and promote yoga’s reach in rural communities across India.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the world sees yoga as a powerful agent for global good as it helps people live in the present without carrying the baggage of the past.

Addressing a gathering at the 10th International Yoga Day event in Srinagar, the prime minister said yoga has helped people realise that their welfare is linked to the welfare of the world around them.
