CHENNAI: As the Madras High Court on Thursday allowed the TN Cricket Association (TNCA) to open and use the previously sealed I, J and K galleries in the M A Chidamabram Stadium in Chepauk for the last two matches of the Indian Premier League, scheduled to be held on Friday and Sunday, at least 13,100 more spectators will get the chance to watch the match live. Justices V Dhanapalan and T Mathivanan gave the nod while passing interim orders on a writ petition from the TNCA seeking to quash an order dated August 8 last year of the Chennai Corporation, restraining it from using the new stands.Ordering notice on the main petition to the respondents - Housing and Urban Development Secretary, CMDA Member-Secretary and the Chennai Corporation Commissioner -- returnable in two weeks, the bench said that its order would be subject to the outcome of the main writ petition. The petitioner submitted that all clearances had been obtained and it was only a matter of time before payment advice for receiving planning permission was granted. At least 13,000 spectators would lose the opportunity to watch the finale live if the three stands were not opened, the TNCA said.
